What is Myrcene?
Myrcene found in many fragrant plants including mangoes, hops, bay laurel leaves, thyme, lemongrass, and basil and is often used in aromatherapy.
Myrcene is the most prevalent terpene and is found at some concentration in most varieties of cannabis. Myrcene can make up as much as 65% of total the terpene profile in some strains!
Myrcene is known to have a sedating effect, and the concentration of this terpene is largely responsible for whether a strain has an Indica or Sativa effect. Strains containing over 0.5% of myrcene generally produce a more sedative high, while strains containing less than 0.5% myrcene generally provide an energizing effect.
Myrcene is considered to have anti-inflammatory, analgesic (pain relieving), antibiotic, and sedative properties.
Dancing Goat Gardens features flowers and products with the terpene Myrcene.
What is a terpene?
Terpenes are a large and diverse class of organic compounds, produced by a variety of cannabis strains. They often have a strong odor and may protect the plants that produce them by deterring herbivores and by attracting predators and parasites of herbivores.
